GYC Southeast 2017 Theme: Rooted

Theme verse: Colossians 2:6-8

“As you therefore have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him, rooted and built up in Him and established in the faith, as you have been taught, abounding in it with thanksgiving. Beware lest anyone cheat you through philosophy and empty deceit, according to the tradition of men, according to the basic principles of the world, and not according to Christ.”

We have all seen the news recently – multiple major storms have decimated cities, paralyzed entire states and scoured several island countries. Yet, though some people have lost most of their earthly possessions, they have still managed to retain their faith.

In concluding His famous Sermon on the Mount, Jesus tells the parable of a wise man who builds his house upon the rock and a foolish man who builds on the sand. And of course, when the winds and rains come, the foolish man’s house implodes. But sometimes people miss an important point: the storm comes to both the wise man and the fool. The fact is, storms happen, and most of us will encounter a variety of spiritual hurricanes over the course of our lives. Some category 1, some category 5. So how can we survive and thrive through the spiritual storms of life?

In this new upcoming GYC Southeast series called “Rooted” we will be exploring principles from God’s Word, looking at how we can have a faith that is founded and grounded in the truth so that we can remain courageous and unshaken through the coming storms. – Pastor Doug
